Devuan Chimaera Trinity DE: *The Best Retro Cool Fun Linux*

My experience with Devuan and TDE came about one lazy Saturday, when after updating my Debian system I wanted to see how well Devuan Chimaera performed on the Bullseye base. The installation was quick and flawless and the new Devuan system performed snappily. I had always wanted to tryout Trinity, but I had some previous installation issues with it on Debian Buster, so I had just left it at that and abandoned the attempt. I can report now that the installation/conversion from Devuan XFCE default to Trinity went without a catch though a bit time consuming. The new TDE desktop took me back to Suse around 20 years ago or so, when I built my first Linux server. This desktop is so old school cool that if you’re looking for nostalgia it is certainly the best choice for appearance and function. The Trinity DE developers state their goal as retaining the function and form of traditional desktop computers, something that I feel they succeed admirably at. The Trinity desktop has proved to be a natural fit for Devuan, so much so, that I think it should be packaged for Devuan as a desktop optional choice and added to the installer. I am really enjoying its retro fun. Work is rumored to be continuing on modernizing the Konqueror web browser and the developers seem dedicated to the project. It is certainly my favorite retro look desktop now.
